What's the temperature where you are???

Third times a charm give it a go!
Thanks so much for the encouragement! The third time DID work. We have real snow for the first time in years - real "building" snow, not the kind that blows away across the icy film of the roads. Excuse me while I go play!

I get it. Those of you who get the deep, heavy stuff regularly are absolutely entitled to be tired of and frustrated over more snow. My area used to get regular snows, but rarely anything notable, let alone blizzard-worthy. Now, all we usually get is ice and slushy misery.
Growing up, and even when my kids were little, snow was a welcome break in the winter routine. It was a time to set aside mundane must-do's and just play. Entire neighborhoods would be out shoveling and sledding, throwing snowballs, building forts and snowmen, and making angels and hot chocolate.
Those events are rare today, and when they do make a brief appearance the air is no longer filled with laughter & screaming, happy voices. The smiling, red-cheeked faces have been replaced with blank stares into electronic devices.
So yes, I understand your frustration and feel for the extra work and stress the snow causes for you - been there, done that, too - but bear with the rest of us as we enjoy a piddling but absolutely welcome six inches of snow. The nostalgia is worth it.

Speaking of nostalgia, my mum and I were talking about the snow of days long gone by, when it towered over the roads and driving the car down the road was like driving through a tunnel of sorts.

Roofs groaned under the weight of it and every winter there would be reports of someone's house collapsing due to the heavy snowload.

Last winter was a winter like that - houses and barns collapsing under the heavy weight. But also so many snow days off school, that kids were out playing and making snow forts and snowmen, snowball fights.... parents joining in, then wondering what they were doing getting all soaking wet with melted snow, and cold. Yet going right back out there doing it again the next day.

Looks like this winter is also shaping up to do that - I see my neighbour's youngsters out playing in the snow, their uncle screaming at them to get out of the way as he tries to plow the drive. Then giving in to the oldest, to 'teach' them how to drive the quad and plow snow - teach them young so they can clear the snow!

Next winter could be like most of the winters the past 25 years - little snow, dry cold air, then wet rainy weather mixed in. The weather sure has changed here in the past 40 years.

Yay! This requires photos of snowmen and snow forts 😊

All you needed was a blast of arctic air to mix with your wet crappy stuff and voila! snow!

Have fun and enjoy - snow is good moisture for the land as it doesn't immediately run off into the water ways.

-1°F while feeling like -18°F with 57% humidity and a -13°F dew point and WNW winds at 10mph.

Today will start out sunny but become partly cloudy and be very cold with a high of 11°F and WNW winds at 10-15mph.

We have a cold weather advisory until noon today due to very cold wind chills of 20-25 below zero being expected.

I'm coming up on the tail end of my flu but now my dad is starting to come down with it.
