    WARNING: Cackle Hatchery

I am so sorry! I ordered mine from Mt. Healthy Hatcheries and they were air mailed next day. I had them the morning after they hatched and my USPS was wonderful. This is so awful and I am truly so sorry.

Buff Brahma - huge difference in feathering on 4 week old chicks

UPDATE: This is now Fern at 7 weeks! Her sister, Myrtle, is so fluffy and feathered and Fern is still not. They're both so sweet 😊 Saffron is behind Myrtle on the ramp - she's an EE and my biggest baby.

    I need shoop building advice!

I ended up putting four gable vents in; one on each side of both transom window spaces as suggested in one of the comments here. I put a livestock grade exhaust fan in one end, and I put in two 22x10 gable vents in the other end. I think it will be good! The temporary run has now been put up...

    Buff Brahma as they grow

I love the updates!! Thank you! My Fern is currently COVERED in pin feathers. Like her little body decided to grow them ALL AT ONCE 😔 One of the others pecked one tonight and she was bleeding. She is the only one with a ton of baby fluff still and she keeps cramming herself under other chicks...

    Buff Brahma as they grow

I love this thread so much!!! It's hard to find photos of the development of Buff Brahmas. I have two Buff Brahma babies right now and they turned five weeks old yesterday (5/22/24) and one is so feathered and the other is not at all and has bigger legs and feet and they are both supposed to...

Early gender guesses? Also how old do you think they are?

I have some snuggly babies that are five weeks old and they are pullets and they look me square in the eye like that, too!!! One, a Black Australorp named Poppy, makes me nervous because she sits on my shoulder and will do it and I don't want my eye to get pecked out 😂

Buff Brahma - huge difference in feathering on 4 week old chicks

I have two Buff Brahmas that are supposed to be female. They are four weeks old today. I read that the Buff color is auto-sexing, but Fern is sooo featherless compared to Myrtle! Her little shoulders are naked!! They looked identical when they were teeny babies. I looked at my other girls and...

My coop design and build blog

This is all so amazing! I have enjoyed reading it all! I really love your sun shade idea. Could you please tell me how you ended up rigging it up? I live in a very similar climate as you in Northern New York and love the idea!!!!

    I need shoop building advice!

Hi! My shed has FINALLY arrived and we are getting busy on turning it into a coop for my chickies!!! It is 10x16. The coop end is the end with the man door. The pop door into the run will go into that door. I want to do my droppings boards about waist high, which on me is around 40-42" and...
