Try hanging some cattle ear tags with insecticide wherever the ants are ....around or in your coop as long as it is ventilated. I had trouble with ants in my well pump asked an old timer at the local cooperative and this was his suggestion. Worked great!!!
Count the day you place them in the incubator as 0.....lockdown at 18 and hatching should begin on the 21st day for CHICKS....best of luck
day 25 lockdown...28th day hatch time. make sure incubator is maintaining temp and your humidity is accurate. From my experience hatching ducklings it...
i have never experienced this before, although a mouse would be the only vermen that could trick momma hen. She may have thought that her chick was hatching until she sensed something else was in her clutch. And moving around under her that was not her offspring.
Thats great. I advise...
Will a turkey hen leave her nest while sitting? Ive heard they will almost starAve and dehydrate themselves staying on the nest til their eggs hatch? Is this true? Will they leave the nest if extremely disturbed? Of will they die defending their eggs? And how long can a hen be off her nest...
it makes sense that it could be a mouse. it may sneak under your hen and she thinks it is them hatching so she is unalarmed. Definitely not a snake or there would be no egg left. Careful with traps make sure mama doesn't get in them. any way to put something up around her to keep vermen out?
my apologies I havent logged on in a while. At your local feed store or farmers assoc./cooperative would be the best place. Beef cattle producers mix with cattle feed to provide amino acids and nutrients for their cattles ruminants. They may have it at TSC or Atwoods but some folks will have...
have never raised runner ducks before. if chicks and ducklings are in a brooder together, the ducks will consume and play in the drinking water and sometimes the chicks will get trampled by the ducklings.
Are these 2 female? how old are the members of your flock?
Ducks tend to roam further...
I always "cheap cheap" at my chicks from incubation to free range or when I want them to go back into their temporary housing until they decide to be grown ups and find their satisfactory roost that makes them comfortable for a lifetime. Ill walk circles around their housing...
I would starting cheaping at the egg from time to time .. motivation to hatch will think he has siblings hatching beside him ...and sometimes geese may cheap for 24 hours before they break out. Best of luck. STAy positive
Always count the day u placed them in the incubator as day 0
Hi there...from central AR
Just fyi.. Canadian geese are wild game so technically you are supposed to contact wildlife rehabilitatior, but....I won't tell.
Well if u can see movement that's good. The air cell will get larger when...
Just outta curiosity how did the mother look whenever you found her? Just killed over or mangled or??? Asking because I'm surprised if something killed her why didn't they take the eggs??
Granulated Sulphur...Since snakes are cold blooded when they slither across it. the Sulphur burns them.....Similar to us as humans being burnt by a hot pot off the stove, or a sudden extreme sunburn.
I have only hatched three geese in my lifetime so i may not be much help. the air cell is on the side because it sat that way for a long period of time before incubation. I have read geese take longer to emerge sometimes days. the few i hatched i heard one cheaping inside the egg in the...
