They do snatch chicks. I've seen a few over my meat chicken run but I've got hawk protection over it (mostly owing to the fact that meaties are so stupid).
I use different things. For Lady Nacho and Ginger I used the neck-stretching and for Lhicken I used a gun. Didn't really have much else to put a chicken down back in Lhicken's time.
