Somehow my comment disappeared:
In the first video: I LOVE how Lilly uses the alternate/extended roost as a U-turn (? round-about?)
I also am amazed at how cool of a cucumber Jabber was: Do-de-dooo. Ignoring the Ladies' mayhem here. Don't try to drag ME into your personal war. Lilly.

Thank you. 🥰 I'm okay - a bit swamped with f/t work + teaching 1/2 time, plus all my chooks and some littles (35 + 7 with a broody) and some other issues going on - plus still need to get my new computer set up....BUT: I did get one! :)
I miss you all and am sooooooo far behind. Hoping to...
I just love how Lilly uses that auxilary roost for a U-turn (round-a-bout?) in the first video!:thumbsup
And poor Jabber - trying very hard to stay non-chalant and OUT of the middle of the Ladies' squabbles!😆[/MEDIA]
You may have found it already -but I would be willing to bet that you posted on here if you did. I do remember that visit - you were certainly NOT going to euthanize at that time as she didn't seem in pain. I remember thinking 'good for you" turns out (imho), good for Maggie, too - as she did...
Okay, so only on for a bit - and I am WAAAAAAYYYY behind. BUT, have you thought of just having a back-up 'generator'? I bought one so I can have power at my main coop/run for a heated waterer in the winter. (Now if I can just get to that project of getting the solar panels set up!)

Great, now I have to actually stay off my work computer for personal reasons and set a good example for @Pastel the Rooster and others.
Okay, I really won't be on here until I get my own computer.
Thanks for calling me out, @ChicoryBlue !:D

I will say, though, her colour is great for camouflaging in the nest...
I was thinking that I loved that she is still there in spirit with her offspring.
@rural mouse Is there any chance you could get a couple of her daughter's eggs to hatch? I know it won't be the same, as the ones you hatch will only be 25% Thing.....but I love her independence and her top...
Hmmm, they are both looking the same way - is there a window off to their right (our left)? Was there someone/something outside? Was there a noise from the servant's quarters or something? Interesting that they are both 'glancing' in the same direction.
I also find it odd that ALL are facing...
It's the way of the chicken. Protects them when they are most vulnerable - at night, stationary & half asleep. Safety in numbers, my dear, safety in numbers.
Ever notice, with a big group like that - the head hen is rarely on the outside of the group (or, if on an 'end', it is an 'end' that...
Be careful with the horse nippers. The spur can be somewhat brittle with that type of a strong tool - it can split the spur (which is a hard coating with thick quick/core in the center.
Ha, ha, ha...I see what you did there...file 'drawn out', 🤭
Seriously, though, it only takes 4-5 'strokes'...
Okay, all, I won't be on here for a bit. Hubby's old computer (very old) now won't open this site because it thinks it is bad security wise (really, it just can't update security because it is so old). I snuck on today through my work computer (I'm on vaca today), but will have to refrain...
