Ok, so I got some new chickens about 2 weeks ago, but they are not laying. I know this because 1) I've never seen them in a nesting box and their vents aren't like my other chickens that are laying fine and 2) Their combs and waddles are pink to light red and not dark red like they should be...
As some of you said in one of my previous threads here in feed section, I asked if I should start to give them 24/7 access to feed. Well, I started that. But, my 20 chickens ate 8 pounds of food in one day!! Is this normal or does this seem a bit excessive?
So, a few of my chickens have recently been sleeping up on top of my goat's barn. I've tried locking them into the coop for a few days to learn to sleep there, but they still wouldn't go back to the coop at night. Any solutions??
As some of you know, I got some new chickens last Saturday. Today, I let them out to free range for the first time. And one of my Jersey Giants hasn't been seen since this morning, and I've searched everywhere for her. What should I do?
EDIT: She came back and is fine. Thanks for helping...
Ok, so I got some new chickens not too long ago. I was told they were 1.5 years old. I'm worried about their combs and waddles as they're smaller than my other chickens I've had before and they are much pinker. Is this a problem, or should i let it go?
Was this egg layed by a pullet or bantam you think? I have some rather tiny RIRs, but I'm not exactly sure if they're bantams, but I also have some 6 month old pullets in my flock. Which do you guys think?
I don't know if this is the right category to post this in but this morning when I walked into my coop their poop was green? What could be causing this?
I live in Michigan where it snows and everything in the winter. With a combination of kitchen scraps and corn, how much should I feed my hens layer feed a day? I'm not going to provide food at all times for them because I don't want fat chickens.
Ok, so I have around 15 chickens and my coop is about 150 sq ft. These chickens are free range. What I'm going to do is give them 14 hours of light a day using a combination of natural and artifical light to make sure they keep laying. I am providing the chickens some entertainment as well. The...
Ok, so I have some buff orpingtons and black austrolorp chickens, and some I don't even know what breed they are. They are about 6 months old. Only one of the black austrolorp chickens have started to lay. When will this happen?
So, we have about 15 chickens and a duck. I'm wondering if I can feed my duck layer feed. Is it ok for ducks to eat it and if not, what food should I get for my duck?
