About two months ago I went out to the coop and found one of my hens dead. I thought It was just her age. Then two weeks later I found another one and it's been that way ever since. They look weak one day and there dead the next. I am afraid for my dogs and kids and I dont want to lose anymore...
I just had two new chicks join our family.
The little one in my hand I opened myself because her shell was cracked for several days. The other one mamma took care of herself. I love these little ones.
Thank you for your help. The little preemie is doing great. I have the two eggs in with a wet towel and the temp is 100. I don't have a bator or the supplies to build one. I can only hope what I am doing is enough.
The reason I say preemie is the egg had a hole in it but the chick showed no signs of hatching. After reading some of the post on here I helped it along. Not my best move.I tried to leave it with the mother and she tried to kill it. I brought it in the house and watched over it like I did my...
I have a mamma chicken who after the first egg hatched forgot about the rest. Do I take the chick in hopes that she will go bake to sitting or do I do nothing?
once I got him warmed up his eyes opened and he drank some water. The other chick that is with the mother is 4 times larger than the one I have. I want to sleep a lot, is that normal? Then he starts chirping and it sound wonderful.
I don't understand. Did the mother forget about the other eggs? Why won't she sit on the preemie to help keep it warm? I am so new at this and I fell helpless. Someone please help me understand what is going on. My heart is breaking over that poor little preemie and the two forgotten eggs.
I have no idea why. I found 6 eggs that had been pushed out of her nesting box. I dropped one and saw a chick. I feel awful that I did not see that she was broody sooner. I feel like I have failed them because I am still learning. Do you ever this way? Thank you for comment.
My little bantam is brooding. I think for about two weeks. I am new at this and don't know what to do or expect. She is still in the coop with four other bantams. Can someone tell me what to do? I don't have a clue. I have 12 hens and 5 roo's, but none of them have ever gone broody. Thank you...
Thank you for all your help. The vet said he was to far gone and I had to have him put down. This has been so hard I keep telling myself he was just a rooster, but my heart tells me he was Coach my big beautiful Buff Cochin. He will missed

My leghorns are starting to get black spots on their combs. Does anyone know if this is normal or could it be a parasite. At first it was just one or two now its five or six. I worry because I have been told comb do not grow back and I don't want them to be in any kind of danger. Any advice...

Ours did also so we went to Tractor supply as suggested but not all stores carry the same things, so we went to our local dollar store and bought some cheap rubber door mats and cut to size of nesting boxes and covered with about 2-3 inches of fine pine shavings, they have a harder time...
