I got the Janoel 10 Plus for xmas and have just started a batch of eggs in it! So far the only thing I don't like is the cable to the turning motor being so short. It unplugs when I lift the top off. I get that it might tangle inside, but why not put it on the outside?
I suspect that my baby bantam mottled Cochin may be an oopsie-roo. I also have two baby silkies, one white and one black. I am curious as to what color their babies would be if they had any?
Finally gave in and bought an incubator. Looking for silkie eggs for my first incubation. Don't need any fancy ones, these will be spoiled pets (and hopefully snuggly lap chooks). Thank you!
Ok I gave in and finally bought two incubators. Going to buy some eggs from either ebay or MPC since I can't find any near me. I was wandering around the net and found this page http://brokeneagleranch-com.3dcartstores.com/Tips-on-Hatching-Shipped-Eggs_c_26.html is this tip better than just...
I would really love to get splash silkies from them, and it would be 15 chicks for the same price as 5 (non-splash) from MPC. But living in the city makes me nervous over how many roos I would get and how to find them homes (which has also kept me from hatching my own but I'm really starting to...
Has anyone purchased chicks from this site? How were they? How was the ratio of males to females? The free shipping is very tempting!

I am looking to get some snuggly lap chickens that like to be held and petted and visit us inside sometimes. The breeds I'm looking at right now are Silkies, Bantam Cochins, and possibly Sultans. Do Sultans make good lap chooks? Are they good with kids? Are there other breeds I should consider?
Looking for a great lap chicken breed that will do well being manhandled by an almost 6 year old and an 8mo (older when we finally get them in spring). Want them to be super snuggly and willing to visit us inside sometimes (especially in bad weather), and love being spoiled rotten. We already...
Online or local store, either way. I don't have an incubator to hatch my own, hubby won't let me get one, probably fears that we would be overrun with chicks in no time. He's probably right.
I really want a snugly bird and I currently have 3 Orpingtons and 1 Wyandotte but they aren't interested in being lap chickens. So I've been thinking of selling them and getting a new flock (Jersey, Cochin, Brahma, Silkie) but I've seen some people with pet turkeys and am wondering if turkeys...
Since I live in the city roosters are a big no-no so I am looking to get one or two female silkies to be spoiled lap chickens but I would like to get them as young as possible. We already have our three egg layers (an Australorp, Orpington, and Speckled Sussex) and they don't want to be touched...
Hi! I'm looking for the names of fragrant shrubs that are safe for chickens. I have roses and lilacs. I ordered a bunch of butterfly bush from direct gardening but only one grew. Thanks!
