Our Black Copper Marans pullet laid her first egg today, she is 20 weeks and 5 days old. The egg is about a 6 on the scale.

Well, our 3 cockerels are 20 weeks old, 6.5 lbs and didn't find a home. One got a reprieve and gets to live with an 86 year old gent who lost his rooster. His two brothers are now cooling in the fridge for a couple days and then to decide on how to cook them. Can't keep too many cockerels so...
Good to know about the darkening, thanks. Not much for diverse stock here so I will likely breed him to get my numbers up. Not much culling this year with only 2 separate rooster lines

Looks like you have the sex right on those 5, our group of 6 Partridge Chanteclers are looking like 2 pullets/4 cockerels at 12 weeks. the 8 at 4 weeks are still too hard to sex.
I had a similar Roo encounter. He was going to be culled but not at 13 weeks until he decided my wife's Cuckoo Silkie Roo Pretty Boy became a target for the aggression. He also decided all the young pullets were his to abuse. So like you, it was freezer camp time and a visit to the relaxing land...
So we found lady selling Partridge Chanteclers, 1 rooster and 4 hens all one year old. Chicken Run road trip day 1, 1100 kilometres. Day 2, got my 5 Partridge Chanteclers, 1100 km and home by 10 pm! Settled the new members of our flock and our only Chanteclers. Next day 2 eggs ... these chickens...
