80, sunny, and very dry here now. Stuff is starting to wilt. I weeded for about 2-3 hours today, and planted a row of swiss chard and a row of bush beans. Warm this coming week, and then a big cool down coming by Memorial Day.
It would be a challenge to get netting over them. I'm thinking I need to look for something.
Not the flimsy 1/2" black plastic stuff. That gets all tangled in the plant (used it on blueberries last year) and you end up tearing off leaves and buds to get it off at the end of the season.
It totally depends on what plant you're saving seed from. There are several good books about it, with details about each kind of seed.
I got a bread maker and haven't bought store bread in years. Now I've getting even better results using a stand mixer and baking it in the oven. Gluten Free is...
Our doc knows we do not want to be on pills. If he ever says, "I want you to start taking XYZ," he better have a REALLY good reason.
My cholesterol is a mixed bag. My LDL is higher than it should be, and my total is up there too. However, my triglycerides and HDL are good. A friend of mine who...
For anyone who has cherry trees... how do you keep the birds from eating the cherries? This is the first year we will get a cherry crop, IF the birds don't get them.
Does the reflective tape work?
I never thought of myself as good looking. Someone told my mom that she thought I "had kind eyes." I looked at myself differently after that.
I notice eyes in other people when I meet them. Windows of the soul, after all.
Inner beauty is the only beauty worth aspiring to, IMO.

What do any of you do to keep birds from eating the cherries off your cherry trees? I have my first ever real potential crop of sour cherries. The trees are a little too tall for us to put nets over without damaging the trees, I think.
Does the reflective tape stuff work?
I'm sad to read that people are having trouble with Baker Creek seeds. I've recommended them for several years.
I haven't been paying attention to which company/germination rates on my seeds, but I will now.
A lot of the seed I've planted so far is saved seed.
We have lots of trees blooming right now. Redbud is done, hawthorn is just about done, cherry is coming on strong.
Do bees like catalpa? We have a big one, and several little ones are coming up around it.
:goodpost:
This is something I wish I'd seen at various times in my life.
I'm in the right place now, fortunately. All was not well, but it's ending well.
A friend of mine said her GP doc has changed over the years. He used to listen, and now he -- "like all of them" -- is all about pills, pills, pills.
She said a friend of hers had to change docs when hers retired. Her new doc asked why she was on a certain med. Her old doc had her on it. New...
My neighbor with heart failure went to Cleveland Clinic. She told the doc that she has been feeling better, and what she's doing differently:
Massage
Acupuncture
Diet
The doc couldn't have cared less, she said. He was all about drugs.
I have to say, I'm disappointed in that doc, and that...
