Sounds to me like u have a smake getting eggs. Get a metal minnow trap and put it in the coop with an egg in it(real or fake). If u have a snake eating your eggs you have a hood chance of catching it in that minnow trap and it cannot escape it once in there.
I went to Lowes and bought some of the 1 inch blue insulation sheet. Cut it to fit on the outside and made it a snug fit. I put that in the vent that gets the most wind for the winter months.
I am going to add “sides” to my ramp for my chicks using thrifted shelving like i used to make a guard rail around the coop door opening so my babies don’t fall out. Ill take it away at age 3 weeks. The guard rail keeps the coop accessible to both the rest of my flock and for the mother to jump...
Sounds like u need to find a different feed source. Do you offer free choice oyster shells? Is it possible they’re getting into something they’re eating that might be moldy while they’re out free ranging?
Look up Justin Rhodes chicken tractor. Free downloadable plans. He is on youtube. I think he calls it a “chicksaw”
Very good mobile coop, easy to move, and lots of natural ventilation
Are u raising meat birds? Or are they for eggs? I am interested in getting some meat birds and trying them in chicken tractors behind my Longhorn cows.
Hi, I am in central KY area too. I have a flock of 2 roosters and 16 hens. Small 36 acre farm where we raise grass fed beef, Longhorn, Angus and Red Poll. My chickens are just a hobby right now. We have a movable coop on wheels. Welcome!
My hen has shown signs of sour crop. I chose to treat her a little unconventional. I made some yogurt in my instant pot . I mixed the yogurt with a good helping of ACV with the “mother” (purchased at Dollar Tree...who knew!) and lightly cooked some scrambled eggs in a good dose of olive oil...
My roo has had bumblefoot surgery 3times in the last year. Wrapped each time with dressing changes. This time, i just lanced and removed the NASTY puss yellow “core”. He was not walking. I soaked 30 min in warm water with bleach, salt, dawn dish soap. I let the huge hole drain without any...
I have treated my rooster for bumblefoot 3x this last year, all requiring surgery and wrapping. This last time I just lanced it, it was huge, red, full of puss and I took out the nasty pussy yellow core and left it open to drain, after soaking it for 30 min in warm water with bleach and dawn...
