I tried to get some storm pictures but rain doesn’t show well with my phone camera.
The chooks all barricaded themselves in their coop but Mama Ducky likes getting a shower!
:celebrate
(Her babies hid under the deck.)
Thank you. I always find my leghorns to be so comical. And they know they’re cute, they show off all the time.
And I do love the Queen. She had a sister, Princess, who sadly passed away last year. :hmm:(
My birds love raw chopped kale, and collard greens too!
When I cut up veggies for whatever meal I’m creating, I dice up the unsuitable-for-humans parts (leaves, ends, etc.), and throw it out for them. They come running.
The Queen (Light Brahma) lays the really large ones consistently. Not sure about the others other than the white ones. Lucy and Ethel, (the leghorns), lay the white eggs. So one of them laid the tiny white egg.
This is the Queen (she will be 3 years old in May)
These two are Lucy and Ethel...
I think it’s a positive thing that things like offal get used in pet food rather than wasted, as it has nutritional value, but humans won’t eat it.
I just wish food animals were treated better and could be dispatched humanely.
