Once when I was a young teenager I was in choir with a gentleman who had just gotten a brand new Ford 150. Now the 1 looked like an I to me, so I said to the the man, "I really like your new Ford Fiso (pronounced Fee-so). He was completely confused for a minute. I still pronounce it that way...
I wish I could. But I don't live in a small town (I don't live in a town at all, but that doesn't matter). Walmart would throw a fit. We have no cashiered checkouts left - it's all self checkout. I do pay all bills that come in the mail with checks though!
I am so old I can call teenagers young man/lady and not bat an eyelash.
