So far it is hanging in there and getting more active. I need to figure out what I am doing with it if I get the duck eggs. I don't think it is strong enough for the brooder yet.
Yes I have heard how messy they are!!! That is why I figured a few days to a week and off they go. Lol
I went up and checked on the last egg again shortly after I posted that and there was no more movement. :( I am kicking myself for not doing a safety hole or checking sooner but I couldn't be sure it internally pipped and it wasn't chirping when I checked it. I opened it up and it was DIS...
I thought of that too.. but they are all together and I can't tell them apart. :( When the 2 were stuck this morning and I had to assist them I didn't want to put them in with the 12 active chicks when so weak and they had to finish hatching. So I quickly moved the Ameraucana over into...
So the last owlbeard that hatched still had the yolk sac attached. It didn't look like a lot but there is yolk on the shell so not sure if it broke? There also looked like quite a bit of blood as well. I have it in the bottom part of the shell that was still attached and in a cup in the...
Still waiting on the last owlbeard to hatch. I candled and see it moving but no peeping so guessing not internally pipped yet......... UGH! LOL
The last owlbeard and SF hatched while I was at work.
so far have
3 from my flock
2 Cochins
5 Owlbeards
2 Lavender Ameraucana
6 Chocolate...
25,28 and 31 hatched. I had to help 2 since humidity dropped to 50 or so overnight and they had the start of zips but weren't continuing and seemed weak. They are out and drying off and seem better.
No new pips so took out other babies and candled. At least 2 internal pips, 1 moving. Think...
So i go to check on the owlbeard when it was zipping, well after I noticed it had started, and the poor Ameraucana/Cochin mix had half an eggshell stuck over its head!!!! It popped up and was going in circles and the shell was fully over its head. Thankfully the owlbeard had just hatched so...
I have bands I think. Hopefully they are small enough not to fall off so may band the Ameraucanas. Right now they are hatching in different incubators. The rest all look different.
I normally don't. Not sure what I will do this time since the lavender Ameraucana and Lavender colored chocolate Emeralds look the same. Most will be sold as straight run right away. But I will be keeping some of each breed to grow out so don't want to mix those ones up.
All the chocolate Emeralds have hatched. 3 are lavender and 3 are dark. @Ilovemychicks08 @Wyorp Rock
#42 Lavender Ameraucana has hatched @CloneFly
Still waiting on all the lemon owlbeards. 29 is pipped that is all. And the 43 and 46 which are both SF still waiting on. And 39 the...
I need to check what numbers are left to hatch. Lol
Both lavender Ameraucanas have pipped. No progress on the first one but it didn't pip in the air cell I don't think. Think it is below it, but after 40 dis after internal pip I am nervous.
There is 1 chocolate Emerald left to hatch, it is...
Ok so I just went up and 47 just hatched. I never noticed a pip and I move the incubator and look at all sides. Lol
So now confused the 2 wettest, besides 47, one is a silvery color and one maybe black. One is Kahluas and one is a chocolate Emerald. Neither have boots, but one of the...
I woke up at 3:45 and had to peek, had a couple more pips but nothing from #40 still. :(
Then woke up a like 4 hrs later and had 2 new babies and a couple more pips. One was just starting to zip. As I was taking pictures since 3 were in the corner together one of the chicks moved so it...
