Thanks! The sp eggs are splash copper, the ones marked BCT are from a blue copper trio I held over from my hatch last year and the rest unlabeled are from a pen of 16 hens that are black, blue and splash copper with a black copper male and splash copper male. The darkest are from a couple of my...

Been a while since I've been on here, but am planning on hatching this year. Here's a few I collected last week from the girls. Shooting to get the eggs in the incubator by Saturday at the latest and hoping for a full 96 count tray if all works out... these are a combo of black/blue/splash...

First eggs from the last group of younguns. These are from a pen with black, blue and splash copper pullets, so will have to sort out who is laying what this winter. The one on the left is massive, I'm assuming a double yolker, but still decent color for being so big. The other has a nice dark...

No problem, hopefully I can get more. They are pretty worked up about being moved to their temporary pen where I've merged the best from several pens. The next step is finishing going thru the breeding stock pens I already have set up to see where the best from this year's hatch might fit in...

Well Ray, I didn't have the best luck on getting pics of the cockerels and pullets since they are still worked up since I've been moving them around. Hopefully I'll have more time sometimes in the next few days. Tried to get some shots to see the overall beefy type of the girls. They...

Before I joined BYC and found the Marans thread, I just kind of went by what I knew with the Marans and some of their nature of the cocks not seeming to molt all at once, but rather over time, became something I was a bit fascinated by, because I'm so used to breeds that do molt fairly quickly...

I've had the same issue of cockerels and cocks getting white tail feathers during molt, then losing them and not getting them back in. I just figured it had to do with the folicle getting ready to drop the feather and that nutrients were not getting to the feather?

How old is your old one? I have some coming up to 4 and 5 years now and just curious about when people start noticing a decline in fertility with them on average? So far, they are doing well here. Wyandotte fertility is an entirely different matter tho. Is your dad's health declining? its...

No problem, I know of several people that would do their end of year spray before snow started to fly and would spray in a too confined area out of the weather and would pass out, and know a couple people that lost birds because of it.

the only thing I'd caution about with the Adam's is that it should be done in a place with plenty of ventilation for both you and the birds since it has ether in it.

Do you have an SOP? They cover sheen and etc in plumage. Hopefully Don will come along and offer what he has to say too. I've been raising show and breeding birds since I can remember of different breeds, and I go against SOP when it comes to the basics of poultry. Purple sheen is not something...

I've never had experience with this kind of symptom, but was wondering if you had posted in the emergencie/diseases, etc section of BYC? You might get more help there.

just watch his tail that as he ages, that it doesn't have a tendency to lean to one side. Also, see if he fills out as well, in the breast and underline area. If you bred a birchen to a solid black, you are working with two birds carrying silver genes, so you will get some with silver, some will...
