:welcomeThis really is a great group of people. Not afraid to ask questions and share failures as well as successes. And, of course, recipes! King Arthur is a big favorite with lots of folks on this thread. Hope you enjoy your time here!
I second that Aria, I've had mine for 40 yrs. Still going strong. Had it repaired once within the first yr I had it. Got shorted out from a lightening strike. It was repaired for free and it's not stopped working since.
I can't begin to count the number of times that I've had a craving for some unknowable thing and started looking through cookbooks, and searching internet sites, and even going through a large stuffed to the gills folder of recipes that were hand written and handed down and recipes I clipped...
I'm the same way. Though I do sometimes time my out and about trips to include some fried potatoes! At those times I don't even care what kind they are; fries, hash browns. doesn't matter just so they are fried and hot! I don't buy white potatoes to cook at home b/c of blood sugar, but there...
And to make the numbers look less daunting. One serving ='s so much sugar, fat, calories, salt. People who read labels wouldn't buy half the stuff they do if they saw what a realistic serving contained. They are suppose to be working on making serving sizes closer to what people actually use...
Not basically soggy bread! The bread puffs up, top with some butter and cinnamon sugar, and bake. When I have company, it makes for an easier breakfast since it bakes while the bacon and eggs are cooking. I don't do much baking in the summer since I have a small house with no central a/c. So...
The glass was made differently in the old ones. They hold up much better than the new ones. I had a newer one that I only used to heat water in the microwave. Didn't even heat the water to a boil. One day the stupid thing broke into pieces while I was heating water! Glad it was only water, but...
I would have forgotten to let dog in when I saw the comforter which I would have given to the quail chicks then remember to let the dog in and wound up with a mug potato soup instead of coffee.
I do like French toast, but had been avoiding it since the girls had quit laying and my surplus eggs were quickly dwindling away. Betty White, my buff orphington, had even stopped talking to me and quit letting me pet her. She was walking right past me like she didn't even know me. Finally, one...
I sometimes make overnight French toast, which is pretty much the same thing as bread pudding.
I've got bags of bread cubes toasted and bread cubes untoasted to be used for bread crumbs and for adding to salmon cakes, meatloaf, and stuffing. All sitting in my freezer along with whole loaves of...
Thanks so much. It's been a crazy year, but things are starting to look better. Glad you've made it through the year:hugs I've got to get to bed myself. Sleep well my friend.
My dogs love bread too. Especially my Schnoodle, Greta Garbo. As soon as the bread comes out of the oven she starts bugging me to hurry up and slice into it. Have to be careful not to overindulge them.
I love French toast, but the girls were taking a sabbatical these last few months and just started back laying. I'm now back up to 2 to 3 eggs a day. Had been rationing my supply. The thought of buying eggs had me eating only 2 eggs a week. And those I had to share with my dogs or risk getting...
I'm back to baking! The best thing about cold weather! That and no bugs:D. Been working on a whole wheat, no knead, sourdough. But, my freezer is getting overrun with bread. I need to bake smaller loaves. Does anyone have excess bread, and if you do, what do you do with it? There is only one of...
