I will indeed. Jim has had his hands full for quite some time now. He does still have a few birds, but nothing like he had prior to the flooding. I figure if he gets the house done, he might do more on that end.
Just received email from him today. He's been battling all these hurricanes, the issues with coronavirus and work, along with a couple of other things. He is still working on his house as he can time-wise and health-wise. Has some help now but is chipper overall. ❤
I will let him know he...
I have a California White hen staying with a bunch of Midget Whites. Took me a day to realize she wasn't where she was supposed to be (blended in?). So when I put her in back in the right pen tonight, I sat in a chair and watched. I see she found a hole from the pen to the chicken barn and...
Yes, that's it. And he is a Lavender. And, no, I won't be using him as a breeder.
He goes into the pet pen along with Digits and Tommy Tucker Turkey - unless someone comes along who wants a pet turkey and doesn't mind his "special needs". :)
Not that this is at all related, but as something to think about.
I have a blue slate tom that was hatched approximately the 1st week of June 2000. It wasn't until last month that I noticed he was acting "odd" and I had started to think maybe he was a tad "slow" or maybe had a neurological...
I have 23 young and my original turkeys running around the yard. They now perch on all the gates, in the trees, on top of the pens - a couple has even gone "swimming" across the top netting. I spend half my day rounding up the ones who jumped over the fence but cannot figure out how to get...
Heh - a quick read of several articles involving all the genetic terms above states it is a mutation that can be general or local when some cells do not divide properly and the daughter cells end up with double copies of one gene and other cells are absent of those copies. (Also, looking at the...

Ok, I tried to find some info on the internet and, so far, have not. What is a "Mosaic"?
Kevin answered,
"Possibly a mosaic but not sure. Just have to see if it retains it into adulthood."
I posted it on the FB page and only got one response that I needed to cull the bird from one of the members. Geesh, sorry but since I am NOT raising show birds, I am not going to cull a healthy bird because it has an aberrant coloration.
Hey, I think her chest makes her more distinctive (easy...
Thanks R2elk - Those two came from eggs bought online - out of Wisconsin. I wasn't sure if it was just juvenile feathers or what - but it doesn't seem to be going away.
The black is sorta "mottled" colored - at least that was my guess. Doesn't surprise me that people would sell them as...
Hi all. I have a few turkey pics and a couple of questions.
Is it normal for a bourbon red to have a white chest marking?

This is my black slate out of blue slates - Spook. But is she truly "black"?
Right now I am up to (I think) 28...
Believe me, will be checking eyes again - if the sun ever shines. In the meantime, I am certainly taking your word for it. And no doubt I am not getting a correct eye color.

:O Opal (brown eyes) just set a clutch of eggs and hatched out 4 white poults. Diamond (blue eyes) laid a total of 14 eggs, of which I stole 10. Put those in the incubator and later disposed of several unfertile or/w blood rings. Hatched the larger of the 2 spotted poults. A few days later...
