Well I'm a newbie and it's probably about to show! Got 10 chicks from our local Big R, 2 each from 5 bins. I'm happy enough with the ID of 8 of them (4 varieties) but sweet little me didn't bat an eye at the label on these two -- allegedly golden-laced Wyandottes!
Any idea what they might be, or do I need to wait longer to tell? They did start out with almost buff wings, but have shaded towards white rather than buff or gold as they've grown. They don't like to be caught but don't mind being held, and were two of the first to take turns in staring contests with the dog from the top of the waterer.
Clean legs, 4 toes, on the larger side for our flock.
Other breeds listed on stickers included red and black sex-links, Golden Comets, Buckeyes, Barnevelders, and Black Jersey Giants. None of those seems any more likely than Golden-Laced Wyandotte....
Baby photo was April 1, the pair with one hiding behind the other looking left was the 10th, both the others are from today (18th). I don't know their hatch date, but I'm guessing they were a little less than a week old when I brought them home on the first.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you, all!
