It's hot !

101F <--- called it yesterday 😐
4% humidity
sunny

This is about a week earlier than we typically hit triple digits. We're moving into a La Niña weather cycle which means a particularly brutal, hot, dry summer for us.

Right now we're in first summer. Second summer begins around July and that is when we usually get rain but we can expect very little rain during a La Niña. La Niñas can last years and usually bring on a severe drought.

Perth's dry spell continues as May temperature record set to fall

Perth has just sweltered through it's driest summer (ABC News: Julian Robins)

Perth is on track to break its May record for the longest stretch of days equal to or above 28 degrees, as the city experiences an unusual run of late-season warmth.

The capital has so far recorded five consecutive days at or greater than 28C, matching the May record set in 1962.

That record could be broken today, with the city's expected top 29C, with Sunday forecast to be 28C.

Perth has also matched its 1962 record for the longest run of May days above 25C, with 11 so far, but with most of next week also expected to exceed 25C, it could blow that old record out of the water.
