I have 10-- 3 week old chicks...Do I feed the shells with the egg like I do the older birds? The older birds did not get eggs till they started laying them. Now I have tons of the bantam eggs (I get 5 a day most days) And they are now all going to be treats. So do the chicks get shells too, or are shells only for laying hens?

Thanks, cookinmom. I have the eggs already boiled, just have to get those shells off and give them to the babies. They are so cute. oh yes and smash them up too.

Yes, the older ones get everything smashed up together. They love it. I went and fed the little girls tonight, it took them a minute, but most of them warmed up to eating the eggs from my hand, It looks so far like the barred rocks and the black australorps are the least shy. I still can not tell the buff orphingtons from the isa browns. But I should be able to in time. I am thinking the isa browns will be more brown. (Man did that ever sound stupid.)
