Tile Floor Grout, Which kind for floor of coop?

Hey SpringFarmChick! Yes, I did tile the floor of my coop but a with peel and stick 12x12 kind from Lowes. Not sure the glue was any better than the grout concerns I had, but it worked well. Especially with cleaning it out, nothing stuck to it. No issues with the birds either and I did cold...

    Chicken PTSD?

@jbrewster how old is your Dane? I have a Blue Dane and an Aussie Mix. Danes aren't a high prey drive breed and they learn so quickly so the solution of permanent separation is kind of a last resort imo. I had issues in the beginning but constant correction and really working to integrate them...

GUYS! It happened! It finally happened!

One laid Friday while i was at work, and the RIR was the darkest comb in the flock when i got home. Then Sunday morning i let them out and the Dominique was singing and still in the coop. She came hauling a** out of the coop and I went running, still warm when i picked it up. Her comb is a Rose...

GUYS! It happened! It finally happened!

I thought that too, and guessed the Dominique eggs would get more uniformly shaped and darker over time. Well .. if i have two laying i am just TICKLED! (we will honestly never know, all 7 in the flock will lay brown eggs LOL).

Our first EVER egg from our 'Tina' (Dominique)!! We thought it was our RIR, but we caught Tina in the act on Sunday giving us our second egg and singing. We are beside ourselves! 19 weeks and 6 days seems like eternity, but i tell you, this is by far the best feeling! My husband was working...

    Coops and gardens

Same here! Why lose the battle when you can just plant more to keep them happy too! We currently have 15 tomato plants (Roma, Beefsteak and Cherry), for just my husband and I, and i give away a lot of produce to my mechanics at work. My hens are approx 15 weeks, and the only time they are out of...

Huge shot in the dark! Is there anyone that has experience pruning Bonsai Trees and could reach out to me for a picture? And if you think cutting the entire top off my tree (has become extremely leggy) is a good idea? Fingers crossed! :D

How do I keep my chickens out of my neighbors yard?

Well .. not sure if anyone else has done this or not. But, if mine are free ranging in the front yard and I see them get close to the garden i .. very obnoxiously to add .. shoo and scare the beejesus out of them in the area i don't want them to be. Haven't had an issue, yet, and they free range...

Damascus Earth & Sweet PDZ's? Im confused.

Excellent shoe choice! My husband finally broke down and bought me the boots! Thanks for the help and suggestions! We too have terrible clay soil here (and we're known for the best tomatoes in VA lol) which leads me to being concerned about leaving the dirt floor alone in the run and having some...

Damascus Earth & Sweet PDZ's? Im confused.

HAHHA! Garage cleaning was a total wash ... still haven't even decided how to approach that LOL. Always a big help! You said you add the old shavings to the run when you clean out the coop floor once or twice a year? How does that work out for you? Do you clean that out once a year and add to...
