    Bumble on chicken's stomach ???

I hope you find all the answers. Epsom salts baths will go a long way to loosening the hard scab material. Keep it soft with plain (no pain killer) triple antibiotic ointment until it heals.

    Bumble on chicken's stomach ???

Could have been caused by the roost bar. This is the quote from a link where someone had the same type of issue. The link to that feed is after the quote. It looks like it may be a breast blister, that is like bumblefoot, but on the breast/keel. It can happen when they rest their keel on the...

Bantam chicken trying to lay for 24 hours

Yes. Put them under your broody if you want to hatch chicks. The chicks will imprint on her and she will raise them as her own. BE PREPARED though. Generally, half of the eggs that you allow her to hatch will be cockerels. That means that you will have boys to get rid of some way or another.

When to allow breezes on chickens?

Thanks. I am planning to do a part cover/part open night to see how they respond. They tell me everything else they want, I am sure they will do the same with this. 🤣😆

When to allow breezes on chickens?

The windows are so necessary during out hot and humid summers. The last two summers were horrible, esp the one before last. Months of 100 plus days. We had a 10 day stretch of 107+ days. Poor chickens, but we managed to keep them all well, even if they were not happy. :( My modification...

When to allow breezes on chickens?

Thank you. I did a lot of research when first starting. I have been pleased with the flock. Started with 4 pullets, quickly added 2 more pullets and a cockerel. Then hatched out the rest. Here is our coop. The picture with the shade cloth is facing east and our most violent storms come in...

When to allow breezes on chickens?

Thank you. Only Black Australorps. 14 laying; youngest about about 10 months; 1 rooster. Windows/roof are "designed" to keep rain out. But when we get sideways west storms coming in at 20 mph I have to shut the windows up. Working on solving that issue. Thanks for your insight. Do you...

When to allow breezes on chickens?

So I know all about no breezes on chickens during the cold. My question is at what temperature will chickens appreciate a breeze while roosting. The main coop has 4 large "windows" 42w x 38h that I can open up to 3 different levels. The first position leaves about 4 inches open at top and is...

    Breaking Broody

Is she being picked on by others? I have a girl who is towards the bottom of the pecking order. When others chase her away she walks around like a broody until the other chicken leaves her alone.

    Breaking Broody

I hope she breaks herself. You could try putting ice packs in the nest she chooses. That is always my first action. May or may not help. :)

    Breaking Broody

Today we had cold (for us), wet weather (low 50s). Rooster Cogburn kept the flock near the run and a lot of the girls spent time in the coop to get out of the rain. Kept my finger crossed that broody wouldn't go into a lay box and hide out. Thankfully, she didn't. I am thinking her cycle...

    Breaking Broody

My broody is still hanging with the flock. Hope you are experiencing the same with Tassels. ❤️
