Sounds like you found a pretty good deal! I checked tractor supply and the local feed stores that are in reasonable distance. I'll probably go back to the feed stores to check for high protein chicken layer feed, or ask if they know any other places to check out. Tractor Supply only had layer...
Thank you! I'll read through it!
I was unable to find any Game Bird Feed with the exception of 14% Gamebird Maintenance, and the All Flock feed I've found locally is only 16%, which is my main reason for looking for alternatives in Chicken Layer x Game Starter mix and/or Chick Starter with...
Adorable babies! My experience and understanding comes down to the whole round egg thing being nothing more than an old wives tale.
My girls each lay a specific shape that is directly tied to them. One hen always lays extra large fairly round eggs, another always lays very long pointed eggs. I...
Finally made the leap and bought my first Coturnix quail!
However, this has so far already proven to be more of a challenge than the chickens were! The internet is loaded with such varied information on quail needs, it's a little difficult to figure out what's right. Everything from incubating...
😂 I had just gotten my first quail a couple of weeks ago at around 4 weeks old. First time I ever heard the little guy crow was when I was tending to my Leghorn chicks in the brooder. Had my back turned to him, but the guy was less than two feet away when I heard this croaking screech. Lol, I...
Not technically a pallet project, but since it's recycled wood and we're all on the conversation of gardening, I felt like sharing anyway.
Just put in a new garden bed for our abundance of Sweet Potatoes we've got going this year. I had to put up a fence to deter cats and people from getting...
If it's been over 20 hours without progress during zipping, you may end up needing to assist. Here's an article to assisted hatching! Read it through for directions and making that decision, but zipping is supposed to only take a couple of hours at most, if it's stopped, it's likely gonna need...
I think it is, I'm just hoping to see if theres something I can do for it. It's just so surprising, was perfectly fine and running around one minute, then literally laying down and gasping the next.
Two day old chick, we just started transporting it to take it back home after a classroom hatch. After moving it to a box with the others and taking it outside I noticed it flopped over and making gasping respirations. It's just laying opening and closing its mouth with deep breaths. Every few...
If it's chick feed its fine. If you mean egg layer feed, you might be better off just waiting. A chick can survive off it's yolk that it absorbed for 24-48 hours. It should be fine until you can get proper feed in the morning
