You want to wait till it's dried and fluffed out. It's okay if it's pushing eggs around, they do that naturally.

If it's chick feed its fine. If you mean egg layer feed, you might be better off just waiting. A chick can survive off it's yolk that it absorbed for 24-48 hours. It should be fine until you can get proper feed in the morning
