    Polish chick chirping constantly

Two days ago I bought two polish chicks. One chick has hardly stopped distress chirping since. The temperature is around 90°F. I put their food in the blender in case the crumbles were too big and saw it eat and have a full crop. I saw it take a drink too. It also scratches and pecks around but...

    Frizzle?

She (hopefully) is about 3 weeks old. I think she is a Red Pyle Old English Bantam. Does it look like she might have the frizzle gene?

    Lost 2 Porcelain Bantam chicks

On April 14th I bought three bantam chicks, 2 OEG and 1 Porcelain D'uccle. A few days later, the OEG chicks grew their wing feathers, but the D'uccle didn't. April 18th, it wasn't eating or drinking as much as the others and then it passed away during the night. A few weeks later on April...

    Duckling Gender 5 weeks old

They are about 5 and half weeks old. I am 99% sure that #1 Madi and #3 Kowalski are hens and that # 2 Zippy is a drake. The others have me confused. What do you think? #1 Madi #2 Zippy #3 Kowalski #4 Dublin #5 Double Trouble #6 Dipper

What breed do they look like?

My duck eggs hatched yesterday. They are mixed breed(s) (I know what their parents are) and I am curious as to which breed(s) they look like. #5 had a very hard hatch and is a little weaker than the rest but it is keeping up with them and slowly getting stronger.

    Writing on duck eggs

My Duck is sitting on her eggs, and today I was able to candle four of them (there's a lot more but she and the drake were getting upset). One of the eggs had veins and movement. I want to mark which one(s) are developing but I know that pencil will wear off. What can I safely use to mark them?

Killed Ducks and Missing Chicken (May be Graphic)

I keep my duck in a dog pen fence covered in hardware cloth with a shed type building that I leave the duck entrance open so they can go in and out of it whenever they want. About 2 am Friday morning I heard my ducks quaking louder than normal and went out to see what was going on. I could only...

    Injured Duck with maggots

I have a Duck that survived an attack (raccoon or weasel) that the flies found before I did. I cleaned the wounds and put vetericyn on them. One wound is deeper than the rest and yesterday (about 24 hours later) I found maggots in the wound. I poured hydrogen peroxide on it, then cornstarch and...

Need advice on a rooster with no legs

Baelfire got locked out of the coop on the coldest night back in January and got severe frostbite on both his legs and feet. I brought him in and tended to his frostbite for about a month. He still had use of his legs and could curl and uncurl his toes, so I thought that we were in the clear and...

Early guesses on gender (4 weeks old d'uccle and golden sebright)

Tiger Lilly (Mille Fluer D'uccle) and Pip (Golden Sebright) are about 4 weeks old. I know it's too early to tell, but waiting is hard.

EE chicks and light brahma chick gender guesses

They were sold as pullets at my local farm store. They are between 4 and 5 weeks old, which I know is still a little early to really tell their gender, but I want to make sure that none of them are looking roo-ish. Belle (Easter Egger with pea comb) Dolly (Easter Egger with a straight...

3 Roosters need new home(s) 1 EE and 2 sebrights in SE Michigan

They are all less than a year old. They have been raised as pets. The reason they need new homes is because I have too many roosters in my flock. Golden Sebright Rooster Sebright (mixed) Rooster Easter Egger (Araucana Ameraucana-Strain)

    Injured Rooster and cold weather

Yesterday my EE rooster (Laddy) beat up my D'uccle rooster (Bae). He broke a nail and cut open some of his comb. I cleaned Bae up and put Kwik Stop on him to stop the bleeding. Once it stopped bleeding the injuries didn't look too bad, so I put Bae back in the coop and took Laddy out. Laddy is...

Does this look like a Silkie roo?

Snow is 17 weeks old and is housed with 1 d'uccle roo, 2 golden sebright roos and 2 silver duckwing OEB hen/pullets. They are all the same age and I have heard all of the for sure roos crow, but not snow. At what age do silkies typically crow? I am still holding onto hope that snow is a she and...

Is this EE looking like a pullet or cockerel?

Lady is about 4 or 5 weeks old. She comes from Townline Hatchery. She is feathering out slower than the barred rock she lives with. I have no other EEs, so I don't have any others to compare her to.

    Barred Rock pullet or cockerel?

Jasmine is about 4 or 5 weeks old. She was sold as a pullet, but I want to be sure and get some other opinions.

    Pox, scabs or something else?

Today, I noticed black spots on my bantam roosters' heads. They are about 13 weeks old and have only been in their brand new coop for about a week. Before that they were in my house. They live with 3 other 13 week old pullets and have been in contact with an older rooster, 6 week old pullets and...
