Please tell me I still have a chance for atleast one of these marans to be a pullet! Almost 5 weeks old.
First pic is of our for-sure cockerel who was hatched the same time as the others around 3/25.
My marans purchased as straight run chicks are now 3 weeks old. Pullets or cockerels!?
Chick 4 is my splash marans, chick 3 is my blue marans, and chick 2 is our other splash marans.
I know, I know, it’s waaayyyyy too early to tell but I love keeping track and posting updates for others who may also be in this waiting game of waiting for chicks to get older to tell hen or roo. I bought three bbs Marans (two of which are splash, and one blue) and one forest egger. Anyways, I...
Are these male streamers on our 13 week old silkie? They’re not really longer than the other feathers but I’m nervous 😬
I figured I could get ahead of the game and arrange a home for him before he crows bc my neighbors will NOT be pleased (plus we’re not allowed roosters where we live) if he...
Who is gonna break my heart and tell me our silkie, Ziggy, is a roo 🥲🥲
or give me good news that she’s most likely a pullet 😆
No crowing or anything yet but I am terrible at comparing Ziggy to other silkies on here bc a lot of silkies on here are bearded and have different crests on their head.
What are we thinking? Got a lot of pullet and roo guesses over the past few weeks. Ziggy is now (almost) 12 weeks old. What are we leaning towards now?
Hi!! I’m a new silkie owner! A local breeder had some for sale and said this one could possibly be a pullet. And I know they’re hard to sex which is why we haven’t had this breed until now. Could anyone give me any educated guesses? They hatched 3/1 so he/she is 8 weeks.
I just bought these BLRW and Splash Wyandottes. Hatched early March, so they’re about 6 weeks old. I know, I know, they’re still young but any guesses!?! They’re supposed to be pullets bc they were ordered from a hatchery and sexed but we know that’s not 100% accurate.
Please tell me they...
I bought both chicks from a local feed store and wanted thoughts on my Barnevelders. The lacing in one is more pronounced than the other and just has more color in general. One is black with little lacing and the other is more colorful. I know their feathers are new and they’ll look different...
I have two 19week old (almost 20 week old) Golden comets, a production red, and black sexlink. Two started laying yesterday, I’m not sure which, one was a kind of normal sized egg and one was so tiny. They both were soft shelled but I looked online that it’s normal for first eggs and we switched...
This may be the silliest question ever but newbie chicken mom here and we have this 9 week old lavender Wyandotte cockerel. I have noticed recently that he has started squatting/sitting with the pullets he’s with.
Is this normal? He’s the only roo we currently have in our flock so could that...
I have 6 chicks (about 6ish weeks olds) in a separate area of our coop that just transitioned there a few days ago from their brooder. Two days ago I was checking on the chicks that I found that all the feathers on our cream legbar’s back had been pecked off and the other chicks also had pecked...
Here are some updated photos of my lavender Wyandotte who is 5 weeks old tomorrow. Any guesses or help on his/her sex?
There isn’t much comb growth since the 3 week photo but it has gotten more color at the top and the wattles are getting some color.
I can’t have a rooster where we live and we...
Last weekend we began losing baby chicks to what I’m almost positive was coccidiosis. Bloody poop, lethargic chicks, standing and sleeping, standing alone in the corner etc. and even with treating with corid we lost a total of three (out of our 9) chicks. We lost one every morning for three...
On Friday I began noticing a few of our 2 wk old chicks being lethargic and having runny bloody poo. I separated the two that had those symptoms (I ended up separating a third chick the following day bc she began showing those symptoms also). I began corid on all the chicks we have and added a...
Hi All!
So a few weeks ago we bought two straight run lavender wyandottes from TSC. Sadly the other chick died a few days ago (possible cocci so we’re treating all the chicks with corid)😭. I was hoping that one of the two we got were female. So just for fun what are your thoughts on this little...
Hi! We bought 5 sex link chicks from a local feed store. 2 are gold sexlink, 1 is a red sex link, and 2 are black sex links. We were told they were all female, but one of the black sexlinks had a white spot on their head. I didn’t realize a white spot on a black sex link meant male, and it...
