Aww, that's cute - Bunny and Ladybug. ❤️
Has Bunny changed color over the years? When Ladybug was a pullet she was more white with a gray beard and now, at 7 years old, she has a lot more brown in her plumage. She's also VERY talkative!
I recently switched my hens to Kalmbach layer and since then several of them have come down with one type of ailment or another. First time in 15 years dealing with sour crop and frequent thin-shelled eggs. I can't prove it's the feed, but I'll probably be switching back to DuMOR after I run out.
Just realized I linked to the wrong size cable clamps. I believe these are the ones I used: https://www.amazon.com/Swpeet-Stainless-Assortment-Cushioned-Installation/dp/B07XG36YWD/
They are attached with stainless steel cable clamps (like these: https://www.amazon.com/Swpeet-Stainless-Assortment-Cushioned-Installation/dp/B07XG36YWD/ ). And, yes, the hoops are elevated a few feet.
I chose to set mine on top of the ground since I didn't have the ability to dig down past...
I would do a support beam across the top from one end to the other.
I added two in my cattle panel garden hoop house because we get a lot of snow as well as occasional high winds. Yours doesn't have to be this substantial.
Is this a coop or run or both? Will there be a solid roof (corrugated panels, tarp)? If so I'd add lots of extra support. If not you CAN leave it as is, but if something like a tree limb falls on it the cattle panels will bend and stay bent and it's very difficult to get them back to how they...
I did see that after I posted. But I think it will still need a sturdy foundation with a subfloor. It won't be sturdy enough if it is set directly on dirt or grass.
Certainly looks easy for a raccoon to pull the door open. And rats to chew through. There's also barely any ventilation and it's black so must get very toasty in there.
Good ones! I agree those are satisfying. I can't decide what is the most satisfying though. I was thinking finishing, but that doesn't really count as part of the process! Blocking in is satisfying - the first loose brush strokes are exciting to me.
A few nights ago I woke up to Luna barking and making a ruckus. I came out to find Luna had caught and killed a rat in my basement. It was the middle of the night and I was so tired I stared at the lifeless rat on my floor for a while trying to think of what to do with it... 😆
This is not the...
I am pretty exhausted...lots to do around here in the springtime... I've been busy planting fruit trees, moving fences, cleaning the yard, stacking and spreading mulch, cleaning the duck house and chicken coop/sheep barn, washing clothes, posting business-related stuff on Instagram, watering...
