Thank you so much. I can't imagine how horrible it must've been for her. I was horrified just seeing them packed in there 2" deep under her skin eating her alive. 🤢🤮 She got her appetite and energy back today.
I appreciate everyone being so quick to respond! I couldn't have saved her life...
She is doing much better today getting her to eat a little bit of wet dog food, and she's perked up and wanting to walk around today. But until her wound heals a little more she's been staying in my hammock with a mosquito net top to keep the flies out. Been packing her wound with Neosporin...
She is doing much better this morning. I wasn't able to get her to eat anything yesterday except for a little bit of wet dog food and today she's perked up and wanting to walk around but she doesn't get that luxury yet. I don't want a reinfestation, so I put her in my hammock with a mosquito net...
I wish I had the luxury of doing it every couple hours but unfortunately I do not. O my uncle is the kind of guy that believes once they stop laying eggs they are worthless. I told him that for as many years as she's given him eggs everyday that she should have at least by shown some compassion...
I unfortunately do not have any antibiotics. But I did soak her last night and packed it with neosporin. This morning I've been working on picking the remaining maggots out with tweezers. She did drink some water but won't eat. They are so far up underneath her skin I wonder if it may be better...
So I noticed my aunt's Brahma chicken was walking really slowly and kind of tucking her butt down a little bit so I picked her up and looked at her butt area and there's a lot of poop and her flesh looked a little dead I guess. Well when my aunt got home I went to show her and got to look in a...
Yes much much better. Other than I worry that he's going to be more vulnerable to predators of the sky, but he doesn't seem like it bothers him too much anymore.
His eye looks alot better but I can see down through his pupil and his dark brown iris had turned a golden color. It's hard to get him to hold still for a picture
That is an amazing survival story! What a trooper to pull through something like that! I'm glad that you decided to put in the time and effort to give him a fighting chance to survive.
I believe vetercyn is for external use only so I don't know if I would use it to treat an eye wound but terramycin ointment can be used in the eye so I would say that is the way to go
I just had the same problem last week and his eye was swollen so bad and look like hamburger. It also had in yellow pests looking stuff sleeping out of it as well and I flushed his eye with warm sterilized water and saline and then I have been putting terramycin in on his eye and it's been a...
Actually, it seems like he can see out of it somewhat. I see him react to things going on, on his right side. How long do you think it'll take to heal?
