Help me find my future dog breed?

Thanks for the tips! It’s helpful to know what to look out for because a lot of puppies look pretty different from how they look as adults. I tip that I think is true for picking a more chill puppy out of a litter is to choose the one that does not run up to you right away, but is also playing...

Help me find my future dog breed?

Gotcha. I forget that cavaliers can be pretty unhealthy. My cross dog seems to have turned out pretty good tho, and since his dad was a bichon frise his face is not smushed at all :)

Help me find my future dog breed?

Yes this was something else I was thinking about. There’s a lot of puppies in shelters, and a lot of short haired dogs in shelters. Adopting a puppy is a bit of a gamble on the personality but I suppose if the dog is adopted young enough she can be socialized and trained very well. Also more...

Help me find my future dog breed?

Looked into min pins a bit more and it seems like they may be a good match because: -short coats -pretty trainable -healthy -energetic, but not crazy Not quite sure about they prey drive though, but I can trust myself to do good on the training and socialization of the dog to be obedient...

Help me find my future dog breed?

ooh, I didn’t quite realize curly coats were so rare. I got recommended Nordic spitz when I took the AKC quiz, but they’re nearly unattainable, lol

Help me find my future dog breed?

Thanks for carrying the conversation with me, yall! Probably one of the most fun parts of thinking about my future is the dog I’ll have. I love to do my research on animal breeds.

Help me find my future dog breed?

she made everyone sign assenting permission slips. They were a joy to have around. Her other excuse is they helped the vetmed students practice handling dogs. One was a puppy (so in training) Even weirder though is one day someone brought their (umm, pointer?). Idk whose it belonged to or if it...

Help me find my future dog breed?

In my animal science class, my teacher brought her German shepherds. Those were probably the best trained Germans I’ve been around, super calm and well adjusted. The issue that popped up and she wasn’t allowed to bring them anymore is that they were growling at the other service dogs in...

Help me find my future dog breed?

I’m a bit wary of German shepherds because all that I come across in my neighborhood are borderline neurotic. That may be a result of the owner though.

Help me find my future dog breed?

I’m aware that individual dogs have different personalities, and that any puppy I get will be a bit of a gamble, behavioral-wise.

I’m curious about what you mean by untouched? Do you mean the breeders aren’t working on improving the breed anymore? (Also just want to say, pharaoh hounds and Ibizan hounds are the coolest dogs to me. I’m aware that I’ll never own one though, because they don’t match my lifestyle at all.)

Help me find my future dog breed?

If I did a French bulldog, I may go for a neo/mix because I want to steer clear of a dog with a brachycephalic face.

Help me find my future dog breed?

I do not intend to treat my dog like a toy. Any dog I get I intend to train and socialize and excercise :)

Help me find my future dog breed?

Yes, guard breeds take quite a bit of work, from what I’ve gathered.

Help me find my future dog breed?

Thanks Mary! I’ll definitely consider a whippet. Because of my Cavachon, I adore small but sturdy dogs. Something fun about having a dog that could jog or hike miles with you but you could also pick up and put in a car.

Miniature pinscher? But I heard they’re a bit difficult to train.

Help me find my future dog breed?

A dog that loves everyone is preferable, but I’m willing to socialize and desensitize a guard type dog so that he’s not aggressive and reactive, as long as it matches my other preferences.

i absolutely love how sighthounds look. I’m worried about the difficulty of their train ability with the high prey drive though. I’m also thinking they’re more difficult to walk/jog because of their urge to sprint after critters.
