I like it! What I do might work for you. I add a heavy duty tarp to the windy side of mine. I have screws across the top and also across the center beam. During windy or bad snowy days, I raise it. Sunny days, I lower it to half height. Spring time thru fall, I remove it completely.

Hi! And welcome! I’m way up in Parkersburg, but come to Ripley regularly. I have quite a few bantam cochins and seramas right now, but no large fowl. As @Redhead Rae said, cochins are quite broody, I have 4 sitting in one nest box together at the moment, and tons of chicks already running...

Wow I hope someone didn’t do something so brazen. Do you ever see hawks? They won’t usually take 2 in one day, but if they were alone for multiple days, it’s possible. Are there any lakes nearby that they may have flown around and decided to move to?

Several of the Tractor Supply stores have monthly swaps. I don't think the stores sponsor them, but they allow use of the parking lots. I've been to one in Clarksburg/Bridgeport area, Gallipolis, and Marietta. Rural King used to do one in Parkersburg but I think the gal that organized it moved...

This is momma Mocha with her 2. Broodiest hen I own. lol I got her in April of last year, and she was just laying at that time, but under a year old, so I think she is probably around 2 years old now. My current rooster, but he is going with 2 or 4 of the girls Mauves Mauve...

Ok thanks! Will let you all know. The pullets should all be very close to laying any time, although with daylight now, they may wait until spring. This is the super-broody momma Mocha, and her 2 that hatched Oct 5th. She hatched 3 groups this year.

Three of them hatched broods this year. One is very broody, the other 2 don't seem quite as obsessive. Lol 5 are younger, I think only 1 of the 5 pullets is laying now, possibly 2. Probably around $30 each.
