Has anyone tried dry incubation and does it work well? And a sexlink breeding question.

Um... Well, we drew round the air cells after candling on day 17, but the chick pipped well outside of this air cell. So I was worried it wouldn't be able to get air - the pip had cracked the shell but had not broken through. So I candled the egg to see if the pip was inside the air cell - and...

Yes, two have pipped!! One cream legbar and one maran. It is day 21 today. One pipped yesterday outside of the air cell, so that was an oddity. I left it 12 hours, nothing more had happened. I carefully removed it this morning to candle it - and saw that the air cell has moved, and in fact...

For mine, I have to take the egg turning tray out. So I took that opportunity to put in a non-slip liner

Yeah, that's fine! My daughter will never know! She wouldn't mind anyway 😀 they can be chick "twins" from one side of the globe to the other! 😜

How about liquorice?! My daughter is hoping she gets a black hen araucana to call liquorice! We love that name 💕😋 I will definitely follow your hatch along! And I love the sweets theme!! I also love the araucanas, they're meant to be friendly too - let's hope ours got that memo!!! :fl

Thank you 😃 I chose Cream Legbar, so have 4 of those. My eldest daughter chose Araucana, so she has 2x lavender and 2x black. My youngest daughter chose Cuckoo Maran, so she has 4 of those! Hopefully all will go well! I’m impressed with my incubator so far. There is minor differences between...

Sorry to jump in, but hopefully this might help someone else, too :) My incubator arrived this morning, so after washing / disinfecting and then drying it, I set it up with two shop-bought-eating eggs (to test the turn table). First of all, I did it 'dry' and let it be for an hour or so. It is...

I am no expert! But common sense would tell me the greenhouse might be a bit risky, as the temperature might fluctuate too much. Does it get really hot in there? We have a summer house (basically, a glorified shed!) which my husband uses as an office. It gets almost unbearably hot in there on...

Thanks for this. I watched the video you shared, and then watched these, which I also found interesting. She suggests using the dry method if you live in a humid place (like I do!), and the shoelace method if you live somewhere more dry. Hope these help. I am also going to be incubating...
