A bit of a rant. I find it increasingly difficult to find a pork sausage that is not loaded with hot pepper. Always plenty of medium and hot. The original and mild are always sold out. I cannot eat hot spicey foods. I have fissures in my tongue that makes me feel the burn more than most people...
On Sedges I have yellow nutsedge here. At the cabin I have Pennsylvania sedge. A better behaved sedge IMO. I found large patches of it in the woods where enough light got in. I considered it as a grass substitute. However by the time the building of the cabin was done I needed something in a...
Harvesting turnip seed today. Shoigoin variety. I use a 55 gallon plastic barrel and beat the seed stalks back and forth. All that are ready shatter. I stack the stalks on a tarp to do again when dry enough to shatter the rest.
On hard to kill plants when all else fails I use Tordon...
Spinach in my experience the bolting is triggered by day length. In my area it bolts the end of May no matter when it is planted. We do not have enough heat early to reliably get a crop. For me it does better as a fall crop. The shortening of day length prevents bolting.
Yesterday I filled 4 tote tubs with water in preparation for moving my Guppies outdoors for the summer. Today I went and got hornwort floating plants for the tubs. Guppies and minnow tubs. I will move Guppies next week. Give the water awhile to get aged.
Too much drama about the weather last night. Not one drop of rain and 20 MPH wind. Then I had dreams of bad weather. Now I will need to water some plants.
Strong storms to start around 8 pm. 70-80 MPH winds. Today I mowed early before it got hot. Did some weed control - removal. Reached 90. Battling poison Hemlock, poke weed, bull thistle, burdock and others. It never ends. Miss one and millions of seeds.
89 predicted and strong evening storms. I need to mow. Making weekend plans. Fishing and family cookout. Hope the weather cooperates. Planted my trap crop of squash. Sacrificed to protect the rest. I use the vegetable one on the trap crop. It is approved on stuff you eat but I use it on the trap...
Do you have room for vining squash? Tromboncino is a vining C. Moschetta group used as summer squash. You could also try a Parthenocarpic variety that can set seedless fruit. Caged with screen wire to keep bugs out. That is if squash Boers are your problem.
Recently replaced phone. My photo problem is with my camera card into my laptop. I will have to take laptop fix my gadget. Phone to computer I am too dumb for that.
88 yesterday and 84 predicted today. Technology is kicking my butt lately. I can no longer import photos from my camera card. Something totally different than what I am used to comes up. Can't figure it out. My phone in my shirt pocket turns on and makes calls to my last called person. :idunno
I never grew C. Maxima group until last year. I liked pink banana so much but it was not very productive. Only 2 squash on the 1 vine and not jumbo. I am trying Gete Okosomin and Sibley this year. All 3 seem closely related and banana shaped. Sibley is blue gray sometimes with a bit of pink...
