I'm a newbie to backyard chickens. We're moving our 5 weeks babies out to a shed run while we build the coop and run. I would like them to be able to range, but we're in an area that doesn't allow chickens to be outside and also we wouldn't in any case because we have hawks, foxes, mink, and coyotes, and also our dog is sort of a jerk, lol. Anyhow, we thought we could do a portable run that is completely enclosed. Found one I like online, but wondering if the 4x4 inch galvanized bottom is going to adequately protect them in the daytime. They'll sleep inside the shed in their new temporary run at night! We took LOTS of precautions in the shed, hardware wire at EVERY opening etc. We love our chickens so far, what a trip!
