Hello y'all! I do 4-H and show my little OEGB, Biscuit! I'm here to share some of the pros and cons of having this particular breed.

Personality: Crele Old English Game Bantams can have many different personalities/attitudes, ranging from highly aggressive and territorial to sweet and snuggly. In my personal experience, and this goes for most chicken breeds: the more time you spend with the bird while it is young(as well as when it ages), the more it will get used to having your presence and attention. However, some birds will just be naturally more aggressive than others, especially considering their history as a fighting breed.

History/Appearance: The Crele Old English Game Bantam was bred for cockfighting in England over 1,000 years ago. Because of this, birds have feathers that are tight to their body(so the opponent couldn't grab them in his beak), long legs in the standard(all fighting birds should be spry), and a very aggressive personality. The Crele Old English Game Bantam's plumage is yellow/gold barred feathers on the head/hackles/saddle feathers, and gray/white barring on the tail, wings, and breast.

Production: Unfortunately, the Crele OEGB is not known for being a particularly great layer, and they are too small to get sufficient meat out of. They are used for showmanship and ornamental as well as breeding purposes. They also do not handle extreme temperatures well, and are not very cold-hardy.

In Conclusion: If you are looking for a production breed, I'd get a Barred Plymouth Rock or Buff Orpington. But if you want to add some spunk and color to your flock, I'd go with the Crele Old English Game Bantam! In the end, you should do your own research and choose the bird that you think is right for you, based on your own circumstances. But as for the OEGB, I highly recommend!!
