INTRODUCTION TO KEEPING DUCKS

Hi. I was pasted along this group by a manger member (if that’s the correct term to call her) I have a Khaki Campbells rescue and have had her since September 2024 of last year. So after finding out it was illegal for rescue wildlife centers to take my duck for a more better life. I chose to keep her and continue giving her the best life possible. I was told about backyard chickens from a group member who the wildlife rescue refuge center gave me a number to. And then a manger member sent me this pages group board so I’m here to learn all I can and to get any tips, advice, ideas, feedback (respectful and useful) in consideration to help me build my duck mom knowledge. I’ll include a picture of my sweetheart her name is Miss Raphael.

well written, and fun to read. I would like to see also nutritional yeast mentioned as a great alternative to brewers yeast, and a little about housing requirements once outside, ie ventilation, predator proofing.

This is good information to have. I hadnt thought about using towels. I love your pictures too. I started out with chickens as well and decided I wanted ducklings. I thought I was prepared but you aren't kidding when you say they grow fast! They are ouside in their house and run now and are very entertaining to watch. I just love them!

I recently have fallen in love with ducks after years of owning chickens, and this was a great article for chicken people looking into getting into the world of ducks as well.
