Purple Pullet Palace--small rolling coop with covered run

It is great for showing how to design a good home for chicken. The design was great, the instructions are easy to understand and implement. Though people like me might lack the gadgets we will always find a way to improvise.👍🙏✝️
Don't get me wrong. This is a gorgeous tractor. BUT the 1st--and to me--most important purpose of any build is to protect the chickens it houses. 2 x 2 framing does not do that. It will not survive a determined racoon let alone a coyote or a pack of neighborhood dogs. Beef up the lumber and this becomes a much safer build for your chicks while still being gorgeous.

JMO, having once lost an entire flock to coyotes and feral dogs. Believe me you don't ever want to endure that!

Rusty, thanks for the feedback. Luckily, I have a fully-fenced lot that encloses the chicken tractor. I haven't had any issues with dogs or coyotes. We do have lots of raccoons, and they also haven't posed any problem. The 2x2 structure has survived pretty well. If it were built with 2x4 materials I'm afraid that it would be too heavy to move. The existing structure isn't light.
Great Plans, the one I'm going to build after looking at plans for a couple years.

Well written article with enough photos to show how the coop was built
A well-built article to match a well-built tractor coop! The detailed plans and clear descriptions definitely earn this an "Excellent" rating ... and the cute video at the end is a bonus!
Great article! It's detailed yet concise and easy-to-follow. This would be a very good resource for anyone looking to build a small, moveable coop. What a lucky granddaughter you have!

Well done!
