The article could be updated to include a brooder plate. The brooder may need more ventilation, some holes drilled into the bottom sides would do it
More detail would be better and the small cut out in the lid would concern me. Seems it may possibly get too hot in there.
I would like to see it in use... I also think you need more ventilation for the chicks, do you have a grow out pen too? Love the clean looks of this brooder though
