The DH and kids just came home with some squirrels they hunted and want to eat them only I have no idea how to cook them. All ideas/recipes welcome.

deep fat fried.
watch out for the pellets. they hurt when you bite into them. i think that's why I am so strange... we used lead shot back in the day, ...twitch, twitch...

We just soak in milk ( it seems to remove some of the "gamey" flavor) then roll in a flour /cornmeal mixture and fry. Serve with mashed taters and a gravy made from some of the drippins.

I actually thought this thread was a joke.

It depends on if they are big or smaller. If they are big I always pre cook in salted water just to cover and add about 1 Tbl vinegar , cook till just barley tender, then roll in seasoned flour and fry in oil till tender and crisp. Take some of the drippings and make a gravey with the broth over mashed potatoes. Yumm, Hey I'l trade you some wild rabbit for a couple squirels.

Boil them and feed them to the chickens.

Yesterday I did that with a turkey carcass and my chickens picked it clean!

When my DD was little, we used to ask her: What do cows make....her answer: milk What do bees make.....honey What do squirrels make.....Gravy!!!
Squirrel gravy is the best! I just salt and pepper, flour and fry the squirrel. Make the gravy, like marymac said, with the drippings. Mmmmmmm!
