Amiga, our 1yr old Perkins have been eating river rocks... we found out because one of their "crops" was swinging like a pendulum and when I touched it I could feel them in there. Obviously we are removing all rocks from their area... but what do I do for our girl ? I suspect they're all doing it because the food is usually gone in seconds and now it's still there at the end of the day. HELP!!!
Could you suggest a specific brand of liquid calcium supplement for soft shell eggs? Our duck, Ginger, has been having soft shell eggs for 3 days in a row. She is fed Purina Premium Layena pellets. She also has the choice of oyster shell when she wants it. As a treat she will often have peas or mealworms.
Sorry to bother you but. I'm desperate. I have a female duck just over 1 year old. She was eating like crazy right before having eggs. She had 3 or 4 over the course of a week which i believe is normal. It's what happened the first time she laid eggs. But now she's breathing kinda heavy. her body moves when she breaths. She sounds like she's wheezing. She hasn't eaten in a few days.
Hi Again Amiga. They are avid hunters throughout the day however. Which also makes it hard to force feed any supplements, medicines, wormers, etc. I feed their wheat and water foul feed in water so can add extra calcium to that. Is that just the human grade calcium?
Hi Amiga Although they have access to all the wheat, water foul feed, dry layer pellets, and oyster shells they could want they dont eat much of any of it. They eat the wormies and peas as though they were starving but only pick at the rest of it with long bills. For the 4 ducks they share a cup of peas in the morning and a cup of wormies at night in hopes that theyll be hungry enough to eat the grains.
Hi Amiga, Thanks for responding to my plea for help. My girls haven't been broody since June and haven't gained any weight back. They do get peas every morning and wormies every night which they love but I have been unsuccessful in finding ANY other treat that they will eat
