Thanks for the very direct insight. It’s confusing because she makes little “nests” in the coop floor, pulls out her tummy feathers and protects the area even though, as we are all very aware 😅, there is NO egg.
Hi! I have a two year old Easter egger who has all the signs of being broody except she hasn’t been laying for over a month due to molting. Instead of hanging out in the nesting box, she stays on the lowest roost in the coop (closest to nesting boxes) nearly all day. She paces on the roost...
Sadly, I do think it is Marek’s. We lost a Faverolle at that exact age to Marek’s with the exact same symptoms. She had no response to supplements etc and passed shortly after. I’m sorry, I hope it’s not the case!
Now I’m even more conflicted than before! This probably means nothing but these little chickens just got moved to the big coop and Domino roosted immediately. The cockerels I’ve had in the past never did this but like I said, could mean absolutely nothing 🤣
It’s SO sweet, I’m really hoping...
I’m sorry you lost your hen and that another is unwell. I’ve had this exact issue running through my flock recently and it turned out to be Marek’s. I hope this is not the case for you, but if you lose another you might consider getting the necropsy done so you can know one way or the other...
I suspect I have had some birds with Mareks and one I believe currently does. I have her isolated and I’m planning to cull based on her condition. 😩
How do I locate a lab in Texas to send the hen for testing? I tried googling and found locations that you send blood samples to, but aren’t there...
Thank you! Lots of mosquitos out right now unfortunately.
So I should assume that the eye issue with the other chicken are unrelated? I’m currently treating with Tylosin (third day) no improvement yet.
