I treated them with a permethrin spray. I’ve treated birds for mites before, so I know how to do it. I’ve been using a large syringe, but I think a tube syringe will probably work better. I’ll look at tractor supply.

One is doing better than the other. I have tried force-feeding, but she still isn’t eating a whole bunch. She spits 80% of it out. The other one will not eat at all. I’m afraid she may not make it. I called my vet, and she said to continue what I am doing and hopefully I’ll see improvement...

There is 25mg in one pill, but I’ve only been giving them half. So, about 12.5mg.

Quick question. How long will it be until I see improvement? Will it be almost immediate or will it take a couple of days or weeks?

Kentucky. It’s been in the 40s 50s range. Pretty good for around here.

I do have a kiddie pool! I will do that! It’s been warm the past couple days, so I’m not super worried about them being cold. Especially since they aren’t wet from the pond and are out of the wind.

This is what I’ve given them The Activated Charcoal was in capsules, so I opened one and sprinkled the contents onto their food. The B-Complex, however, was in pill form. I broke it in half and gave a half to both hens. It was kind of a lot of work to get it in them, but I did it. I...

Probably just open the capsule and sprinkle it on their food.

I’ll go to the store tomorrow and separate them from the flock. I’ll also call my vet and see what she thinks. She’s great with poultry. The reason I say genetics is because I’m not too sure about their background as far as inbreeding goes. I just bought the eggs and hatched them.

Were the results from pathology inconclusive?

It’s been going on for a couple weeks. I strongly doubt that it’s poisoning. I bought fortified nutritional yeast with b vitamins in it. I’ll bring them in since it’s been cold. The pond is easily accessible, in and out. I’ve never had an issue with any of the other breeds I’ve had (mallard...

    Stumbling Duck

I have a runner duck hen who is having issues with stumbling over her feet. She can get around, but it is clearly a struggle. She usually doesn’t leave the pond and when she does, she can hardly get out. I bought some nutritional yeast to give her as a niacin supplement. I’ve also attached a...

    Unknown Mite/Lice Species

I got it. There were also mixing instruction on the bottle. I plan on spraying once per week until I am not finding lice anymore. I didn’t see Elector PSP at my feed store and I don’t really want to order it online. If I just can’t get rid of them I might try it, but I have a feeling the...
