My celtus growing in a half gallon pot is outperforming the ones in my earth box. I used 30% steer manure, 30% perlite and 30% peat and watered it with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer/Star Green 24,8,16.
I leveled my new $50 NFT system from amazon and it made a big difference. My 2-gallon...
I just bought this 36-plant space hydroponic system on amazon for $50 with free shipping. I think it will fit under a 4ft x 2ft rated grow light. It's cheaper than an earth box and fits more lettuce.
They start to turn milky when flower forms, so I have been picking them when buds start to appear. My plants were planted too close together, so they are not showing signs of flowering at the same time which is okay with me since I only snack on one or two plants a day.
I have been eating my young Celtuce stems and leaves raw without any dressing and without having to take the skin off the stem. They kind of taste like raw asparagus and the leaves taste the same as the stem. In addition, I think they are milder and less milky than regular lettuce.
Today, I processed 3 noisy roosters from my meat line. I ended up keeping a white with tan saddle one. I was originally planning on keeping an all-white one, but his crow hit a nerve, so I went with the baritone sounding white and tan one. Now I have two roosters left with low pitch crows. One...
Not sure, I do fine without it. One vine produces more winter melon (Wax Gourd) I can eat with hardly any effort. However, I do have to tie the stem of the winter melon with a para cord to support the weight and cover the young melons with a fine mesh bag right after the flower falls off to...
My winter melon leaves get ravished by aphids', powdery mildew and often times look like its dying, but it still kicks out new shoots and more winter melon that I can eat, so I just water and fertilize it and once in a while, I use a hose canister with soap to kill the aphid population.
Nope, my rooster was stiff, and I struggled to tie his leg down before cooking it. Lol, resting it never crossed my mind until now. Nevertheless, the meat was firm, but not rubbery. I ate a leg and thigh portion and enjoyed it. I will try again after resting the bird, I think this will make a...
Next time, I will start it in a Dutch oven covered and finish it uncovered to brown skin. It was fully cooked after 5.50 hours, but it was not what I was expecting. The meat was firm unlike falling off the bone texture in a Dutch oven.
I hand plucked my red ISA Brown rooster today. I think he is about 5lbs finished. I will try slow roasting it at 225F for about 4 hours and I will place a foil over the breast after it hits 145F, and finish with high heat (450F) for 10 to 15 minutes when the thighs hit 195F.
This is my first...
A couple of weeks ago my throat was feeling a little sore, so I drank a lot of emergence C, gargled with Listerine and got rid of the virus in 3 days, but the very next day after shaking it, I woke up with a mean case of vertigo. I think it was caused by a virus. The reason I say this is because...
I am still waiting for my poblano peppers to germinate. I have them in a glass Petri dish with moistened tissue. I planted them in potting mix outside on my first attempt, but it did not sprout. I got my seeds a few months ago. The wait is horrible, especially if they don't sprout.
