Thank you all! Having a Broody Duck never became a problem. Shortly after I posted this, I lost 5 of my ducks including my 3 girls to a predator attack. We were devastated but we took our freshest duck eggs and placed them in an incubator. Our girls left us very precious gifts. They are hatching...
I have 3 young Khaki Campbell girls. They started laying in the middle of February. I was finding eggs in random places like different spots in their coop, under the coop, under our trampoline and so on. It kind of fits what I read and heard about ducks laying and not being broody. I didn't find...
We did a hatching project from a local farm and ended up keeping our ducks. Duck eggs need moisture in the incubator. I am sure there are people are experts on hatching duck eggs on here.
Hope your boys find a good home. I am in a similar predicament. I have 4 sweet Khaki Campbell drakes that I need to find homes for. Everyone so far wants to invite them for dinner.
I have learned to speak Duck. My ducks have learned a little English too. They greet my daughter with 'Mama-duck' and me with 'Gramma-duck'. They say 'Duck-Duck' too. :D
Our ducks have goofy names like:
1. Hoot..short for Hoot'dini. She always get out
2. Modo..short for 'Bad Mother Ducker'
3. Lady.. She was 'Sir Quacks-a-lot' before we realized..lol
Hi all! Here's our 8 Khaki Campbell Crew. They kept me company while shoveling snow and were loafing on the job. They crack us up with their antics! They always want to be where the action is. My 3 KC girls just started laying. It's an egg hunt everyday. My daughter hatched them in August. They...
I have been laying down straw in places where it's bad. I'm in SE PA. We have layers and layers of snow and ice this winter. I have ice blocks that I have taken out of their pool. My yard and pen will be a mess when it all thaws. ugh!
We have 2 today. One laid in the coop overnight. I found the other one in the snow by our trampoline...just glad it wasn't in the mud puddle under it. lol
