I have a silkie hen named Elsa who is about 2.5y old. About 2-3 months ago we found out she has 2 bones cysts growing. One on her leg and one on her wing. We had taken her in because of a limp that was progressing and the vet found the cysts when they did an x ray. The vet put her on metacam to...
Actually yes, thanks for asking. The vet contacted us a few days ago. The specialist got back to her and apparently Elsa has a bone cyst or cysts. One on her leg bone and another on her wing. She said it's not common and in the 20 years she has been a vet she hasn't seen one. She said we could...
So here is some background info. Elsa is a 2y old silkie. She had a slight limp in the fall, and we assumed that maybe she had landed on it wrong as she had no issues bearing weight on it or walking. Fast forward to spring, her limp has been slowly getting worst. She still hangs out with the...
I have only had chickens for about 3 years and none of my girls have had serious molts, they just look a little scraggly. Well my wyandotte Mystery is now having a pretty hard molt this winter.
I am hoping it's nothing serious. I will take a look and see if I can see other feathers that may be poking her. If she injured herself from jumping off of something, how long does something like that take to heal?
First time doing a video on here so I hope it works. Its first thing in the morning here. I noticed her limp gets worse as the day goes on. Hopefully you can see at least a little bit.
Thank you for the reply
Elsa is on layer feed with free choice grit and oyster shells. She is still eating and drinking fine but taking breaks, laying down more often. We use pine shavings in coop and run. Our roosts are relatively low in the coop. We have a couple higher roosts in the run but...
Hi everyone
I just wanted to share some pictures of my mottled Ameraucana. My daughter named her Oreo. We got her almost a month ago, she is about 18weeks old and our first Ameraucana. She intergrated into my mixed flock without much issues. She is quiet friendly and quiet so far.
So I have a silkie hen Elsa, that's about 1.5years old. I noticed last weekend that she has a slight limp. I checked the bottom of her feet and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I thought maybe she jumped off of something and landed wrong. Well her limp is slightly worst although she...
I recently picked up a mottled ameraucana pullet a few days ago. She is about 12 weeks old. She is currently in a temporary pen for isolation before I integrate her into my small mixed flock. Today when I was checking on her I noticed her toe nail looked a bit strange. It's a bit croocked. Not...
None of the chickens have runny poop but I thought maybe the poster was serious and it was possible worms can cause colour changes. Thanks for clarifying. These chickens are our pets so I would take them to the vet if nessasary.
Is it just because she changed colour? I sent a stool sample to the vet earlier in the year just to check when I added my pullets and she said everything looked fine for worms/parasites. Should I do another sample?
