Final update. I’m sure their color will darken more. I’m thinking I have a male and female? One is slightly larger with black wing tips and a more “Roman” shaped beak, possibly male? What do y’all think? And their little chicken buddies decided to join in the picture! 😁
It’s very weird. I’ve been hatching for two years from this hen/rooster combo and this is the first “weird” chick. It’s super healthy. Eats, drinks and acts like a normal chick would but it’s just so tiny and has a long upper beak. And also reminds me of Gru from the minions movies 🤣
So all three hatched the same day. Very rare failed hatch for me. Put 24 in and only had 3 hatch. One is from my Easter egger and the other two are from my barred rocks. I’ve hatched many chicks from these guys and this is the first time I’ve run into this. Is it a runt? Genetic issue? It’s...
So I’m starting to think they are lavender runners. What do y’all think?
I also clean their pool weekly and refresh the water daily! Messy little guys (or girls! Who knows!!)
I’m hatching this mix as I type this. One EE lays blue eggs, the other mint green. What kind of mix am I getting from this breeding. They are hatching out looking like EE chicks.
Thank you. I knew I wasn’t going crazy! Lol! All 4 were supposed to be pullets too. But I love them either way. And I just lost my black copper maran rooster so I guess I was destined to end up with that dude I got.
Thanks! I figured this was the case. I was just surprised at how some were almost solid black while others showed barring. But it was the black combs that really threw me off!
