Scratch is not the only feed given. We fed them Purina layer crumbles which they've eaten since they started laying. We have a storage box with feed tube where they can eat when they want to. The calcium supplements are oyster shells.

Trying to find an answer for my wife. We live in Louisiana and it does get hot here in the summer. How do y'all keep you chickens cool? Does anyone use a fan? Or do chickens do well in high heat? I know i don't!
The wife is starting small. Soon the entire tractor shed will be cleaned out. That coop and a 12x19 run is going to be under the tractor shed. Already cleaned that section out. If she decides to go bigger we'll just have to build a larger coop.
