thank you so much. I feel better now, and maybe we need to just let her be for a while. Maybe she will grow into her "vent" size and it won't protrude : )). Of course, that is not scientifically based so don't take it as fact : )
Daisy is almost 3 weeks old and about 1/2 the size of her siblings. She has had a prolapsed vent/pasty butt since we brought her home from TS. We are providing daily care for that (washing butt, hydocortisone for a few days, etc.) but she is very tiny and today I've really noticed what I think...
Room temp is 66-68 at night, 68-75 during day, heating plate always available. She has been pooping regular poops when we see her do it, but her butt has been a mess and we try to keep it clean. She has never seemed lethargic. We have hydocortisone 1% cream to start today when the second...
Trying to deal with this on a 1.5 week old chick. is she able to soak in water at that age if we are holding her? Also, read the hydrocortisone 1% was better to use than Prep H? thoughts? We are struggling with not hurting her. Thanks!
They are 6 days old. Thanks for your advice : )) I was wondering about the temperature swing from 60's and brood plate at night, to heat lamp (high 90's) and plate on during the day when we're around.
Our 6 chicks are in the house in a room that gets down to 64 degrees at night and hovers between 64-68 during the day. Is it good to have the heat lamp on during the day while we're around, and then just use the brooding plate at night? thanks!
Our family just became a backyard chicken family and are growing are chicks in the house. So happy to have found the Premier site for all things chicken! Looking forward to happy chickens and those fresh eggs!
