    Checking genders and breeds

I think either the red one or a lavender laid the other day and it was tan.

    Checking genders and breeds

Still think both lavenders are Orpingtons? I saw on the site I got them from they have sapphire olive eggers and also Isabel leghorns I think it was, but think those have yellow legs and a white beak. And think the buff one is the hampbar still?

    Checking genders and breeds

Updated pics at 19/20 weeks..... Still thinking the same???? I need to get my coop cam up and running again to see if 2 are laying yet..... Still iffy on the lavender with the bigger comb... That one is thinner than the other one. Less of an Orpington shape...

    Checking genders and breeds

Thanks. One of the lavenders was really throwing me off since it's comb got bigger and pink sort of early and the bit of a curve to the tail but didn't notice pointy saddle feathers still at 16 weeks. What is odd is the lavenders looked different as chicks. One had a dark beak, one was light...

    Checking genders and breeds

I picked up chicks and some breeds I wanted were substituted. The were all sexed pullets but questioning one, maybe 2. One I think is a prairie bluebell. The other 3 not sure. I know lavender for 2 but Orpington???? They are 16 weeks. The red one I have no idea on breed, it is bigger...

    June 2025 hatch-a-long

my little Orpington that I had to put a hobble on (calling it Hobble. LOL) is doing well. I had to hold it near the water and food the first couple days and keep my finger under its butt so it didn't topple backwards. But now it kind of wobbles around and gets where it needs to go. I took the...

    June 2025 hatch-a-long

oh boy these hatches are just not working out for me. So the electric company changed out our meter today which meant the power was cut while they did it (I did NOT know they were doing it) and my incubators did not turn back on so I came home from work to cold eggs......... No new pips so I...

    June 2025 hatch-a-long

Woke up to the one that was pipped half way zipped. Watched for a while and no movement. Not sure what happened but think it died while zipping. I have never had that happen before. And as of now I don't see any other pips. When Ioved the Orpington to the brooder and could look closer I...
