Very good advise thank you! Have to have that perspective in mind when formulating what and how I'm doing things for them. That's why I'm trying to take in knowledge wherever I can to make informed decisions. You guys are a giant help in doing that 🌷🐥🐓
Thank you so much! I actually made a post about my concern for the heat that you commented and gave me my ideas to start with! I read your article over and over again to try and get some solid ideas which helped a lot. It's just a limit on what I'm able to and willing to do involving the roof is...
Thank you very much! Im excited and love the community so far. I probably wont mess with the structure of the roof too much. Ill probably do the large windows with eavs on each side as suggested by another user and a top spinning vent on the roof.
I will probably stay in the 10-15 range. I have...
As shown with the red. About that big under the lip on either side. I was also thinking about putting in a top spinning vent for the heat at the top to escape.
Thank you for the tip about the lip I'll definitely need to do that for the nesting box and shelf. That's what I meant about the elevated roosting shelf! I saw that on someone else's build and thought it was a great idea! Gonna lip it, add bedding, and a bar parallel above it.

We are converting this very large shed into a goat/coop barn. Only two nigerian dwarfs, then ten hens in their own separated areas. We are doing additional covered ventilation on the siding on either side then a top covered duct for the heat to rise out of. Any additional recommendations?
We are converting this very large nice shed into a goat/coop. Think we'll add a covered duct on top for the heat to rise out and then covered side vents for air to circulate. We will also be adding enclosed insulation in the siding. Any recommendations for ventilation?
Thank you so much for writing such a comprehensive and well thought out article for everyone! I bet you've helped (and probably saved) a lot of chickens! Including mine 💙 Love resources like that!
