Okay! Update!!
So when I got back, I looked and found out that she had broken her humerus. I didn’t take any pictures of the broken wing, which was stupid now that I think of it, but with help of some friends (neither knew squat about poultry much less quail) and the internet, I figured I better...
Okay I’m back home now, I’ve gotten her out of her cage and put her into a bowl in my sink and I’m going to CVS soon to get hydrogen peroxide and/saline solution and some silver wound gel. Her wing is stuck to her feathers with blood and I don’t quite know how to clean that off so I can get a...
I was shaking when I handled her this morning, so I don't know the exacts, but I believe she broke the upper part of her wing.
I don't know if it was a clean break; I'll have to check when I get home.
I'll definitely check out the post you made about your queen of the flock, I'm sure it'll help...
I've been caring for a lone corturnix quail recently, it was the only egg to hatch out of 6 last eggs of my dead flock.
She was lonely but she was doing well!
Last night, I cleaned her home up for the first time in her life; she was previously living in our garage so her hutch was wet and...
I am soooo sorry for never sending those pictures!!
It turned out that none of the other eggs ever planned on hatching, so I have been raising the lonely chick on its own.
I think she was very lonely at first, she got pretty agressive with me in the first month or two of being an adult; but...
Hey! I was never really too active on this site, but in the 2-3 years I've traveled on my journey raising quail for the first time, this site was always the first I would go to for help and info. This place is absolutely amazing for a beginner like me, the people here are so kind and helpful...
I had candled the eggs the day before the current chick hatched and the evening after the chick hatched; maybe I did something wrong but compared to the last time I candled a batch of eggs, I couldn't see anything inside the eggs during the whole period of the incubation (all were either...
Oh my gosh it's you!
I saw you had a similar issue so I was reading some of your forums!
I have the chick in a brooder with a hand sized stuffed monkey and a mini mirror since already, does that work?
I had a really really small batch of Coturnix Quail eggs in my incubator and fully believed none of them would hatch. However, yesterday morning, I walked into my room to find a single chick running around the incubator.
The baby is healthy, but so so alone. There are 3 more eggs sitting in the...
The chick passed yesterday, unfortunately.
Thank you all for your help! I'll be sure to learn from my mistakes and do a lot better if I hatch another batch of eggs!
You guys are an amazing community and I absolutely love your quickness to action!
Thanks again 👋
Okay, I really appreciate that y'all, I have a couple questions
Is there a quick and ethical way to cull him other than cutting his head off?
I don't know what breed he is since a distant friend of mine gave me the eggs.
That was a recent picture.
He's still wet because I've kept him in the...
Hey y'all!
I recently hatched 2 chicks; the first hatched early (18-19 days) and since the other one hadn't hatched yet (on the 21st day), my parents urged me to assist it.
It turned out pretty bad.
The chick came out alive, thank God, but it definitely wasn't fully done "cooking" in it's...
Sorry for not ever responding to this! The little quail I was talking about here unfortunately died a while after the post. It's death had nothing to do with the issue I stated here but I just wanted to let you know. I appreciate your help a lot, this community helped me get through my first...
