9 out of 9 ducks , happy
after they´ve gone on streak for nearly 3 weeks until tuesday of last week, im more than happy ,
lookslike they dont like sleeping with the chickens
they are soooo beautiful ducks, gorgeous green shimmer, but please tell me the secret to such clean eggs from ducks? Mine are messy to say the least...
At the moment they are a lot... it´s relatively peaceful, given the actual ratio is 9 girls to 6 boys (two of them were not planned at all, I bought Olaf as "brown", the only thing about him beeing brown was the loads of mud...😠 the other one, Tofu , i failed to cull because he was one of my...
for the time beeing i think i can not maintain a thread for him
but i have some nice photos for the collection
of course, just for you, another Salix photo, he really gets darker over time
Hosta, my blue dusky girl
A little bit of Tilia, lavender, with her beautiful brown spots...
Yes, that´s my plan. i will add portraits of my current breeding ducks and the ducklings as they hatch and grow up.
this also sounds interesting. In my opinion crested is not desirable in any duck our poultry because of the corresponding head malformations and brain defects, but i think this...
Hey everybody,
I´m from germany so please excuse mistakes.
Im absolutely into runner duck color genetics and want to breed every single color over the next few years.
unfortunaly in germany there are not many cool "certified colors" in the runner duck breeding standarts.
We have mallard...
ohh im sorry... yes the internet is sometimes a real problem
No, i dont want to say that, but if you call something a color you assume is for example blue fawn , you could put "blue fawn (MM Blbl)" into your text, so somebody with a different background (mostly language or regionwise) can think...
truly beautiful girl
i will get one myself next year, a friend of mine has found a splash/silver (BL/BL) drake for her blue duck (BL/bl) so there will be light blue ducklings on the ground hopefully by march/april <3
maybe i can get them myself , Salix and Rauch could produce some (assuming she...
:D if i ever plan to rehome them i will think of you, germany isn´t that far away from france!
ohhh my...
lets just start to mark the genes in conversations, maybe something in brackets like (MM, Blbl,...) just to get it clear
fawn in germany is also used in a runnerduck color...
My knowledge was:
lavender = brown + one blue (Bl/bl, d/(d))
Lilac = brown + two blue (Bl/Bl, d/(d))
Splash/ silver = black + two blue (E/e or E/E, Bl/Bl)
If i Happen to get my hands on a brown drake (wich turns out to be close to impossible) i will pair them.
if she is lavender (single blue...
another nice color , again from france @Papaye , you went about as deep genetic diving as i am :D
just to be clear (germany here) I thought the "fawn" color is light dusky + brown (mdmd, lili,d(d) )
so if you call her blue fawn.... does she carry blue and brown and dusky and then on top: yellow...
mallard is not "carried" like black or blue or brown.
the standart/basic duck is a mallard (see wild mallard, close relatives to runners)
so every duck is some kind of mallard (dark phase, light phase, restricted or dusky)
and all other colors are on top,
some change the tone of mallard...
ahhh, my people... duck color genetics <3
especially lilac/lavender!
sooo: brown first
if all your brown babys are girls they´ve gotten their brown from their dad!
(short course genetics: ducks are the other way around then humans (XX girl, XY boy) ducks have Z and w as their sex determining...
thanks, and thats not even all of them, i have 14 in total from 4 Different sources (5:1,3:1,0:1,1:1) and i will get up to 21 different colors/combinations from them next year, im soooooo excited
